Age Policy & Child Safety

Future Football Stars is for players aged 18 and over. Every player profile must belong to an adult. We do not accept profiles, photographs or video of anyone under 18, whether or not a parent or guardian consents.

This is a deliberate change from how the Platform previously worked. It used to accept player profiles for children, with an adult account holder managing them. We no longer do, and profiles that did not meet this rule have been removed.

Account holders were already required to be 18 or over. That has not changed. What has changed is that the player a profile describes must now also be an adult.

A player profile is a public page about a named person: their photograph, their video, their country and club, and a score other people give them. Publishing that about a child — and inviting the public to rate them — carries obligations and risks we are not willing to carry, and which no amount of policy text discharges responsibly.

Restricting the Platform to adults is a straightforward answer to that, and a more honest one than a set of promises about safeguarding children whose profiles we would still be publishing.

We check age at every point where it can be established:

• An account cannot be created by anyone under 18.
• A player profile cannot be created with a birth year that would make the player under 18. This is refused by the server, not only hidden in the form.
• Video cannot be uploaded against a profile that does not meet the age rule. This is checked when the video is attached, so a profile created before the rule, or edited afterwards, still cannot publish.
• Profiles and video are reviewed by a person before they appear publicly.

We rely on the birth year given by the account holder. We do not carry out formal age verification, and we do not collect identity documents.

Tell us and we will remove it. You do not need an account, you do not need to explain your interest, and you do not need to be related to the person.

• Use the Report control on the profile or video, choosing “Risk to a child’s safety”; or
• email info@futurefootballstars4u.com with URGENT SAFETY in the subject line.

Profiles reported as under-age are taken out of public view while we look, and removed along with their photographs and video if the report is right. We would rather remove an adult’s profile in error and restore it than leave a child’s published.

Content that sexualises, endangers or exploits a child is removed on discovery, the account is terminated, and the matter is reported to the relevant authorities. We do not wait for a report before acting, and this applies regardless of who uploaded it.

Using the Platform to contact, solicit or obtain information about a child is prohibited and will result in termination and referral to law enforcement.

We do not knowingly hold personal data about anyone under 18. If we discover that we have, we delete it — the profile, the photographs, the video files and the associated records — rather than merely hiding it from public view.

Because we do not knowingly process children’s data, the specific regimes governing it — the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, Article 8 of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code — should not arise. We keep this page because the rule still needs stating, and because being able to report a suspected under-age profile matters more than the label on the policy.
